The Seventh Episode of How I met your mother is titled Matchmaker. Ted is forced by Barney to go to the Matchmaker industry in order to pick up chicks because of a commercial Robin had taken interviewing the Matchmaker industry. In the industry both Barney and Ted write their resume for the Matchmaker, and the Matchmaker concludes that Barney is just a guy looking to pick up chicks so she kicks him out but Ted in the other hands decides to take the challenge of finding him a mate. After five days Ted decides to pay the Matchmaker a visit to see who his match is and the Matchmaker was not able to find anyone for him. After receiving this revelation, Ted takes matters into his own hands and cracks into the Match maker's computer and pulls up a almost compatible match for Ted. Ted visits the girl at her job but unfortunately she is engaged. Ted at this point is disappointed and bummed about not having a person he will end up with.
There were a lot of good quotes from this episode some of my favorite were:
"Going to a matchmaker is the male version of getting a cat"- Ted. There are many instances were we give up on certain desires and settle for the next thing. Lonely women are said to get multiple cats a substitute for a mate or spouse, in way it is like giving up. However as Christians we believe and stand strong on the belief that God has someone out there for us, we just need to let Him guide us and mold us so when the right time comes to meet that special person we would be ready.
At the end Ted convinces himself that there is someone out there for him and his search is still occurring.
A similar belief is illustrated through this episode and is the belief of there only being One person for you, also known as "THE ONE". Many people believe there is only one person for them in this world and they are in search for that one person; which was also my believe before. The Matchmaker wants to find the one for Ted but she cannot and gives up. However that is not the life we have, with many break ups and relationships not working this does not mean we ought to give up. Instead spending time with You for You of Lord are teaching us how to be full in You first. There is no "One" but there is a right one, wait for it patiently being led by Him. :)
